Another Banner Week for Arts and Sciences

On Tuesday it was announced the Materials Research Science and Engineering Center won a $8.1 million NSF grant and then on Wednesday came the announcement of a $9.3 million NSF grant for improving mathematics education.

Both these projects are highly interdisciplinary. The MRSEC grant involves the College of Engineering, the Center and the Departments of Chemistry and Physics. The math grant involves three colleges, Education, Agriculture and Arts and Sciences, and many departments in addition to Mathematics and the Center for Science, Mathematics, and Computer Education (CSMCE). Both grants blend research and education in significant and profound ways. Grants like these are important to the college and represent UNL at its best.

Congratulations to the directors of MRSEC, Prof. Evgeny Tsymbal, and CSMCE, Prof. Jim Lewis, and their teams on these achievements. You can read more about these grants by clicking on the following links: MRSEC and CSMCE
